Received from Warren & Colleen Lieuallan (3-11-09): Presidents of the
NCRDA
Hello from the
North Carolina Round Dance Association
We would like to introduce ourselves as the new Presidents of NCRDA.
One of our main goals is to increase membership and participation in the
NCRDA. And we'd like to ask your help. Many square dance clubs offer
round dancing, or have round dancers as members. So we'd like to ask
your assistance in publicizing our group and our dances.
Our next quarterly dance is being held on April 4, in Oxford. Jim
and Priscilla Adcock will be teaching (a phase V, IV and III) and Jim
will be cuing in the evening. NCRDA dances always aim to provide a good
mix of rhythms and phases, and try to keep most folks up on the floor
most of the time. As you know, it's a delicate balancing act, providing
for both the relatively new phase III dancers and the experienced phase
VI dancers! But we're going to try our best. Our opinion is that the
NCRDA should serve as a forum dedicated to round dancers. There are a
number of square dance events where phase II and III dances are done.
But there are far too few opportunities for us to dance at the higher
levels, so the NCRDA will emphasize phases III through VI. We hope this
makes us a unique and valuable addition to the North Carolina dancing
community.
